About Us

Our Story

No two pieces are ever the same.

At TAPA, we believe beauty isn't something that can be repeated. Every piece starts with natural mother-of-pearl — a material shaped by time, carrying its own patterns, colors, and light.

Through careful hand inlay, each design comes to life slowly, not through mass production, but through patience and detail. No two pieces are ever exactly the same. What you wear is not just jewelry — it's a moment of light, captured differently for everyone.

The Art Behind Each Piece

TAPA was born from a simple idea — that light can transform what we see. Mother-of-pearl reflects light in ways that are never fixed. A slight movement, a different angle, and the same piece becomes something new. We don't try to control that change. We design for it. So what you wear is never static — it moves, shifts, and lives with you.

Our Craft

Our artisans work in small workshops along China's coast, where the tradition of luodian (mother-of-pearl inlay) has been passed down through families for over 3,000 years. Each shell is carefully selected, hand-cut into delicate fragments, and inlaid one piece at a time into polished lacquer. The process is unhurried, just as the bonds it celebrates are deep and lasting.

Why the Panda

The panda is more than a mascot for us. It's a symbol of what we believe in: gentleness without weakness, rarity without pretense. Like the iridescent shell itself, the panda is one of nature's most beloved creations — treasured across cultures, recognized everywhere, and impossible to overlook.
